A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth, made mostly of specialized plastic that's intended to mimic natural gum tissue and teeth. Complete dentures replace all of the teeth, while partial dentures fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from shifting position.

What types of dentures do you provide?

We can fabricate or have complete or partial dentures made for patients.

Are there alternatives to dentures?

Yes, dental implants can be used to support cemented bridges, eliminating the need for a denture. Implants more closely resemble the feel of real teeth but they usually cost more. Not everyone is a candidate for implants. Dr. Chiu will help you decide what will work best in your specific case.

Are dentures comfortable?

Our patients tell us it takes a week or two for their mouths to adjust to a new denture. In some cases they report increased saliva flow or minor irritation, but those generally diminish after the first few weeks. To get accustomed to chewing with a new denture, start with soft, easy-to-chew foods. After the initial adjustment period, well-fitted dentures are very comfortable. If your older denture clicks or causes irritation, it may be time to come in and have a new one fitted.
